View Full Version : To do button
Until the recent Firmware update from the Program List you could press the yellow button to view the to do list. Is there a new shortcut or do you actually have to go to the menu everytime to view the to do list? That was a shortcut that I used all the time.

There is no shortcut any longer.
You have to go through the menu.
Well that is unfortunate, at least I can still quick deleate, for now.

Can/Would D* ever change it back if they got enough complaints about it?

Doesn't seem likely. Doesn't even seem like they are interested in an alternative. Apparently a "management" decision.
Best bet is to get a good universal like a logitech harmony 880 and program the sequence into a one button macro. You will end up in "Manage Recordings", but IMHO this is where you want to be anyway. This way you can get to TODO and the Prioritizor.

I am sure if it reached a magnitude of a majority... but given the change has been in the HR20 national release for almost two months now....
Don't see it reaching that level of magnitude.

So you do not have to do the 6 presses the rest of us have to? How do you do it?
1. Menu
2. Down
3. Down
4. Down (On Demand)
5. Manage Recordings
6. To Do

I guess it is 6 presses, not 3.
That is awful !!! OMG !!
Let's all start a class action lawsuit and put bring back todo in our avatars. Give me a break.

It's just to bad you've got nothing better to do with your time. :p
i'd also like to see the yellow button for to-do list come back. i used it all the time. probably not going to happen, but i'll at least voice my opinion.

That is not going to happen. But there is a large movement for a list-list solution instead.

It has been many many moons since I owned a remote that used macros. Have they gotten better with speed? the one I had would take the close to the same time as my finger would have, so you had to keep it pointed at the equipment for approximately the same time.
I have become so accustomed to the RF of this remote now, I don't know if I could go back to IR anyhow.

Macros still aren't as fast as you'd want. I also programmed a "To Do" macro into my MX-700. It's the "down, down, down" that slows execution, because you have to leave enough time for the HR20 to act on each "down" command. But at least I don't have to look at the remote or risk RSI.

I was shocked to see the "To Do" changed from the yellow button. The first thing I do when I turn on my TV when I get home from work is check the "To Do" to see whats going to record that night. I wish the "To Do" was assigned to one button that I can press to see what's scheduled to record. The "To Do" is very important to me and to a lot of other people.

Very important ? It's just a DVR. Sheesh. :)

It's not that hard to get used to.
You must adapt. It's the only way you'll survive in this world.

The macro for my MX-700 is as fast as I could do it manually.
I'm getting the MX-810 (it's in the mail) so I'll post how that one works.

I did have to put a delay for some of the steps in the macro but is isn't any slower than doing it manually.
