Here's a question and someone correct me if I am wrong ...
DishPRO receivers CAN use LEGACY dishes.
LEGACY receivers CANNOT use DishPRO dishes (at least without an adapter). True or False?

Yes. And yes.

The only thing wrong with your statement is the word dishes, DISH PRO and LEGACY both use the same dish the piece infront of the dish is a LNBF and that is what is either DISH PRO or LEGACY.

This probably belongs in the tech forum, but what is the difference between legacy and the dishpro hardware? When swapping out a 2700 for a 508 at Christmas I ran across this in the install stuff, and wondered what had happened in E* land since I'd converted to D*..

Dishpro is the new, stacked LNB's.

E* offers the following Dishprop LNB's
DishPro Single,
Dishpro TWIN, and
Dishpro QUAD.

In addition, they also offer the DP34 switch. The DP34 can have 4 tuner outputs and an additional 3 tuners for adding an additional DP34 - you can have a total of 3 cascaded this way.

Now to use the older, Legacy receivers with the Dishpro LNB's / DP34, there is an adapter - typically runs about $70 and EACH Legacy tuner needs it's own

ALso you need to use RG6 cable swept to 2.2GHz.

scooper - they also are coming out with the DP21, which will allow you to do various cascades of DP singles w/either twin or quads. (you'll be able to put a 2.2 ghz splitter on the output of the DP single, so you can do 2 cascades w/2 DP21's.

Thanks for the additional info..

DishPro needs 2.2 Ghz. certified barrel connectors ad grounding blocks. They are identified by the blue center insulators. As a professional installer, I have found that there is a problem with those "f" connectors, where an "o" ring is found inside of the nut at the bottom of the threaded recess. This connector has shown conductivity problems with DishPro. Either take out the "o" ring or replace the connector with a higher quality one like Snap-N-Seal.
