Are their enough channels now to warrant hooking up DOD? For those of you who have hooked it up, getting many more channels? I know DOD is still relatively new to DIRECTV.

There are somewhere in the 30s for "channels"
With about 3000+ titles available.

Only you can answer if it is "worth it", as it depends if you are intrested in the content that is on there.

DoD is new to DirecTV, but was first introduced to the public testing many months ago.

See the DirecTV OnDemand forum (in the programming area), for a lot more details on what you will find there.

I personally think it is very much worth hooking up.

I do have the Premier package so I do get the premium movies channels that are offered.

But I do watch any where from 3 to 12 hours of DoD programing a week.

As a standard package, compared to Comcast on demand, no it is not worth it. I have found little programming worth watching. Besides it is 480i with 2 channel sound and takes a long time to download, at least for those of us with 2nd Tier DSL. Maybe with the movie packages it it a little better. That said it is still in Beta so maybe it will be getting better.

As I said in my first reply...

Each individual has to evaluate the content for themselves.

I have have plenty of content on their, to make the $2.50 investiment I made to get it connected (network cable to the jack in my wall)..

Some people like it, some don't I guess.

My take? I love it. I watched the entire 2nd season of Dexter in one month through DOD (of course, I had to add Showtime to my account for that one month).

If you have a home network already and already have an ethernet port in your entertainment room, then there's no cost to you and it is worth trying. If you have to run cable, that's another question that (as Ed said) only you can answer.

It is almost entirely 480i which kind of stinks. And there's not too much good content available right now. But it is in beta form now. I would hope that D* will be able to expand their offering and add HD at some point in the near future.

DoD does offer some content that I wouldn't probably bother to look for. Those can be worth downloading if you can stand the wait. I too, have a second-tier DSL, but if there's something I really want, I can download it overnight and watch it later. Overall, though, I haven't used it much.

At least they put the switch in it so it didn't take an extra jack, so I commend D* for that decision, but DOD isn't really even worth the time navigating the menus, again IMO.
