I have a HR20-700 receiver and I have noticed that channel 496 is not even in my guide. I do not see it listed. The only thing I can think of being the problem is because I do not have locals with my package. Is this true? I was thinking that this channel would be there anyway, but, I just could not see anything on it.

496 is a test channel for the 72.5 satellite. Unless you have a second dish for your locals, it would not even be listed.

Oh, and welcome to the forums!!

Thanks! Appreciate it! Also, thanks for the reply/help! So, how will it work then? Will this channel appear in the guide after I install the 72.5 dish (in other words go thru setup and restart receiver, etc.)? Will it appear after I add locals to my package through DirecTV?

The channel listing for the test channels are based on the satellite set up. So once you have the 72.5 dish installed - repeat the satellite dish setup and make sure 72.5 is set to installed instead of not installed.

It SHOULD put the channel into the guide :)

Great! That will work. I would like to run something by you right quick. My setup consists of the following:

HR10-250
HR20-700
5 LNB SlimLine (101, 110, 119, 99, 103)
Single 18" Dual LNB Dish (72.5)

I know if you would like your local channels on both receivers you should use a 6x8 multiswitch, but, could I use a 5x8 multiswitch (Terk BMS-58) instead? What I would like to do is just bypass the 5x8 multiswitch and connect 2 lines from the 5 LNB dish straight to the HR10. Then do the following:

Switch Inputs: Sat. A - other 2 lines from SlimLine dish & Sat. B - 2 lines from 72.5 dish
Antenna Input: Empty
Switch Outputs: Receiver 1 & 2 - run to HR20 and other remaining outputs leave empty
Also, plug in the multiswitch of course to a outlet with a RG6 running to it.

Leave HR10 as is and configure HR20 with 5 LNB dish with 72.5 installed. It seems to me that this may work? Any ideas? Thanks for all your time!

I will have to let the other guys answer - but as far as I know - you have to use a 6x8 to combine the two dishes.

To all your questions above, the answer is: NO

Due to do the switching and controll signals an external multiswitch is needed. The terk will not work either, you'll need the wb68 or wb616
