View Full Version : Second Home Question
I have Directv in the 56379 zip code. Have Minneapolis HD local channels. I have a cabin in the 54548 (Minocqua, WI) zip code. If I use a slimline dish, would I still be able to access my MN local channels? Or would I need a seperate dish to get locals?

You probably would not be able to pick up the spot beam for the locals you have in Minneapolis over in Wisconsin.
It would also be against the Terms of Service to receive your service at the cabin using your Minneapolis account. Technically, you need to set up another service plan for your cabin. Some people here have gone by the rule that as long as they are only using the service in one place at a time, they are with the TOS. That would be up to you to make that call though.

total agreement with the Merg on that one. need a separate account for your cabin or move all of your rcvrs from one place to the other (like a movers)
(Take the rcvrs with you when you go to the cabin, bring them back when you come back) and change the address when you go to the cabin

Also, if you do take all your receivers and change your service address with DirecTV, you would then be able to pick up the locals available at the cabin. Not sure how DirecTV will take it if you keep changing addresses on them though.

DIRECTV will allow you to move your service on a temporary basis to a second or vacation home provided you stay within the Terms of Service. You would have to call them and have a second dish installed at the second home. Then, every time you go back and forth, call in and notify them of which receivers are going where. The thing you can't do is use one account for two locations at the same time. That requires a second account.

Let it be said. Let it be done.
