Well here is what I was wondering, if/when MRV comes around, what happens if you get an unsubbed receiver to act as a client for MRV?

For example, my whole house is networked, but I only have Sat lines to my main living room area (and it would be a real PITA to run them anywhere else in the house because of the way my house is setup). So what if I got another say H21 to view shows off of my HR21 in the living room with MRV?

I wonder if they will have restrictions that check to see if the other box is subbed?

Any thoughts, ideas, etc.? Just opening a discussion, as truth be told none of us really know the solid facts on MRV yet! ;)

subbed or networked/ MRV will need network cables for sure

SO I wonder what would happen if you subbed a receiver, but did not have it connected to the Sat lines? Probably would cause a lot of other issues though, and if I remember correctly it needs to connect to the sat lines every now and then to be able to see that it is subbed.

Would be awesome if they made some kind of thin client to view the MRV though! Too bad in their mind it would make people not want a second receiver so no mirroring fee...I would pay like a half mirroring fee or something though if it was possible!

I understand that, and like I said my whole house is networked so that is not really an issue.

I didn't say it would have to be subbed for SAT service...

my understanding is that only the master would need sat lines. all the slaves would use network connections only

So, you are saying there is a chance in won't have to be subbed.

You sound like you know more, but are holding back

Gotcha, ya that would be VERY awesome if they did this. The thing would be that this would require them coming out with a "thin" client type idea, and as I have understood it I thought it was more just for sharing recorded shows between full usage receivers (like between HR2x receivers or from HR2x to H21)

And of course there's the likely chance that the H21 will work for MRV too.. then only 1 sat line would be needed...
Just stirring the pot :D
