I have just installed a Dish 6000 and I wish to activate the Caller ID Feature. I have called the phone company to have the service activated ($7.50/month what a rip).

But I wonder. Does the 6000 just display the phone number, or does it also display that "enhanced caller id" information such as the name on the phone number's account?

I am really enjoying my Dish 6000, especially its OTA module. Dish has really done a good job on this thing. I just wish that they have spent more effort on the integrated menu. I'd like to have more than the 3 networks to match up the analog locals too. It would have been better to map them to the dish locals 8000 series channels. Also the PSIP on the digital locals hasn't worked for me yet. Otherwise very slick.

The CallerID function on the 6000 delivers what the phone company provides: it will display name and number if it is available.

Make sure you turn it off if you ever make a recording to a tape. It's pretty annoying to playback a show and see the caller ID pop up. This happened to me once and I kept pressing Cancel till I realized I was watching a tape.

ha. Well my CallerID was activated today by the phone company. Sure enough, name and number. Cool stuff.

The window is little too transparent. I almost missed it the first time.
