There was some sort of upgrade last night. One 622 is fine, but the other just starts downloading again after the updating the receiver memory screen.
Is there a preferred time to pull the plug and reboot when this happens?

My 622 was in the middle of updating the program info this morning at 6:30am. Eventually that completed, then it went to updating memory, then went dark, then came back with a different screen saying it was downloading program info, then it went to a switch check, after saying it found an unspec'd problem. Than it finished and I had TV back.
Last night I noticed the prog guide info was screwed up. It also was recording the same channel at the same time and was past the end of the scheduled events. I think it was set up to record back to back episodes of Monk and neither timer ever stopped. I stopped them both manually.
As far as I could tell in the 5 minutes I saw before leaving for work, it was ok.

Ack, endless reboots!
There currently seems to be a problem with L4.49 being downloaded and the receiver rebooting over and over. Several people have reported in in the L4.49 experience thread. The problem has been reported to Dish. For me, a power cord reset did not stop the download cycle.

While I was watching the 622, the message boxes all warned against doing any sort of reboot - basically leave the receiver alone. Also, there was a progress bar or other indication of activity when it was not blank, so I figured I'd obey the instructions. It did eventually work as I stated. Also, I did not see endless reboots, but did see two separate and different downloads of program info and one download of "receiver memory" (was the term used I think, and this screen had no progress indicator).
I never saw an indication of a new software download, which I have seen before, though I may have come in at the end of that cycle when I turned on the TV. However, I don't recall seeing this particular set of events before during a software update.
I'll see what I've got when I get home tonight.
It looks like mine have quit downloading now. One without a power cord reset.

I figured out the work around. On the first 622, I was awake while the download occurred. After the download, and programming memory, and reboot, the system left me at the screen that say “press select to view programs” or something like that. I pressed select, then it went into the check switch torture, so I just went to bed. In the am that one was fine.
In the meantime, the other 622 seemed to be a few minutes behind. In the am that one is set to tune to a Sirius station, but it was blank. When I turned don a monitor, it was downloading, so I made this post. I kept it on the monitor while I was shaving, then noticed it stopped din the press select screen. I pressed select, and it doing the same thing - the check switch and transponder torture, but then worked fine. It probably starts over if you aren’t around to press select.
Sure, if you take it out of standby mode or have a recording in progress it will not download software.

Just to be compete, my units did finish the process. The process just wasn't automatic and restarted for 5 hours staight until hitting select at the right time.
One more for constant reboots this morning. I eventually got sick of it and yanked the plug, figuring if I toasted it that's why I pay for the hardware warranty. One reboot after being unplugged and it was fine.

Not unheard of after a software upgrade.
