Just wanted to check to see whether anyone has gotten this package before and whether they would recommend. Thanks! :D

I find that there are enough games on regular CBS. You can only watch one at a time.

I couldn't disagree more.
I've had Mega MM for the last 2 years, and re-upped again for next month. I really enjoy the first round the most, with all the "1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, 3 vs. 14 etc." potential upsets, and switching around the dial. I recommend it.
The key is having the ability to take all Thurs and Fri off, or else don't bother.

Or work from home and grab the 42" LCD from the bedroom and place it next to the 42" DLP in the living room :)

I've found that MMM to be good for the first week games and the Thurs/Fri games in the second week. After that you will have access to most every game via CBS.
Since my team has been stinking it up the last few years I haven't felt justified in getting MMM, though.

:) .. Sounds good .. :)
This is the sports package that I think is most worth the money. I always take the first two days of the tournament off and watch games all day with three tvs in one room.
I just wanna know if every game is in HD this year. That flex stuff from last year was real annoying. I've read that all the games will be in HD but on DTV's website it looks like it says most games. There should be no reason now with the additional of the new satellites that every game isn't HD unless it's a CBS thing.

If you have OTA reception, check with your local CBS affiliate to see if they are going to broadcast games on the sub-channels. I know some affiliates were doing this last year. This would negate the need for MMM.
Having said that, I really enjoyed the MMM coverage last year as my local didn't offer the sub-channels.

I am a huge college hoops fan, and it is worth it to me to be able to watch the games I want in their entirety, especially when one or both of my two schools are involved. The first four days of the tourney are -- to me -- among the best of the sports year.
If you're not a big fan and are happy with your local CBS affiliate and cut-ins to other games, I'd say no.
So it's hard to give unequivocal advice.

All feeds Flex and Constant will be in HD this year from all locations.

I guess a lot depends on whether you have a dog in the fight or not and your set-up. Without the package I can watch Basketball from Noon until Midnight on both Thursday and Friday.
After the first weekend i believe everything will be on CBS for free.
If you have 4 receivers hooked up to 4 TV's and they are in the same room than with the package you can watch all 4. I just have one TV in one room (although the screen is 100") with one receiver. I'm hoping the team I follow (Drake) will be on CBS but if it isn't than I'll probably go to a bar.
Not saying it's not a good package just saying that it's not for everyone.

I think it`s worth it, I`m not a BIG b-ball fan. I go into morning and deep dark depression after football season wraps up. When March-madness rolls around I get into it a lot more. The 1st and 2nd of rounds in the tourney with the MMM pack make it worth the money IMHO. You get to watch the big upsets as they happen. Plus if your stuck with a blow out game in your local market to can switch over at anytime to watch another without having to wait for CBS to determine that 4U.

Had nothing to do with DirecTV satellites. All games were on HD channels. It was a matter of CBS switching capabilities.

I'm not a real big college B-Ball fan until MMM then I get into it. For me I enjoy watching the games and working out my remote.

No, it's not worth it. I'd sooner poke my eyes out with rusty forks.
Well - you didn't say only basketball fans could answer the question....:D

Our CBS affiliate does this. There's usually no HD on the sub channels, but that's not a big issue to me if I really want to see that game....

There's always the free internet feeds. Sure they may not be as good as the D* feed, but hey they don't cost anything.

I subscribe and I think it's worth it. There are always the great games, big upsets, that are not what are being televised in your area. I love watching those games, and you can see the close game vs. the blowout pretty quick.
It's also great to invite the boyz over and have a few beverages whilst spending the day watching hoops. What could be better?

I definitely think it's worth it. Especially if you follow a team that probably won't get air time on your local CBS.

I agree with this completely. Most of the games worth watching are on, and if a game is a blow out they switch to a better one. Plus they usually will switch to a good game that is coming down to the wire.

The Atlanta CBS affiliate has used subchannels to broadcast all of the games (I believe there are only 4 games happening at any one time), so if you live in the right place, you can get all the games for free. The question for me this year is whether the guide will be updated with the subchannels so I can watch them w/ my HR20.

It just depends on where you are going to watch the games
I was going to buy this package but won't since me and my friends are going to go to a bar anyway
Now, if my team was playing in the tournament AND I wasn't in a region that got it, I would get it in a HEARTBEAT
But, we suck so no worries about that
If you can get the first Thurs/Fri off work and you're in an office pool, get ready for the best four days of sports ever.
As far as i'm concerned, Yes, it's worth it. Weird though, every year right around the start of the tournament, i alway's feel like i'm coming down with something and need to go home and "rest"....;)

I used this last year when my fav team was not on TV. I thought the stream was pretty good. I had my laptop in full screen and watching the game was seamless. That was on a DSL connection. I have FIOS now and if I have to watch a game out of market, I will do this again. So I guess I am in the camp of it not being worth it.

The first two days of the Tournament often showcase basketball at its most exciting. Even marginal baskeball fans get sucked into the madness. If you can get together with a group to watch these games on multiple sets, this package is among the best values DirecTV offers.
Even if you can only watch the games Thursday and Friday night it's probably worth it because half the games (16 total) start after 6PM ET. Plus, you get a full day Saturday and a compressed schedule of eight overlapping games Sunday.
Now, this comes from a March Madness fanatic. I've gotten together with some friends each of the past four years to watch the first four days of the Tournament. We will have three HD sets for the first time this year (there are rarely more than three overlapping and interesting games). March 20-23 has been marked on my calendar for the past six months.
One word. Yes.
Or, yeah, what he said.

OK. It looks here like the local CBS affiliate will show Drake (if they get there), but I would like to follow other teams as well. Thanks for the head's up!

Being a Tar Heel fan in Chicago, not only is it worth it, it is one of life's essentials....right up there with food, water, and air!!!!!
I can watch the Heels in HD on the constant feed even if we are blowing out the 16th seed....it is very important for me to see if Greg Little gets any playing time or whether he is back playing football.
