-100 is RCA/Thomson.

Are you sure about that model number?

For reference, I believe the manufacturer codes for DIRECTV receivers are:

100 - Thomson/RCA
200 - Samsung
300 - Philips
400 - Hughes (Does Hughes make receivers any longer?)
500 - Humax
600 - LG
700 - Pace
800 - NEC
900 - (I Don't know - perhaps nobody @ present)

Not 100% response the the thread...

But DirecTV CSRs, can not guarantee what specific manufacturer of DVR you will get as a replacement.... in their system is is just an HD-DVR.

I'm working above the CSR level at a totally different number requiring a PIN and they claim they can and do send out specific models.

Well... Even at that level... from my understanding, is that they can't guarantee the specific manufacture...

They can send an HR20 or an HR21... but not a HR20-700 vs HR20-100

The only thing I insisted on was it not be yet another HR20-100, then they told me specifically that they were sending an HR21-100. We'll know in a day or two...

Speaking of the HR20-700, are they still making those or is it all HR21's now?

There never was an HR20-600.

Doh, sorry, HR20-700, didn't mean to start any more rumors.

The HR20-700 was stopped a long whiles back.
As for the HR20-100... I am not 100% sure on it's status... but if it is in production still, it wont be for much longer.

It's a b*tch getting old, I knew one of them was stopped. I was just curious since I know you mentioned the -700's were stopped but hadn't seen any mention on the -100's.

you may get refurbed hr20-700. if they show in a plain white box, its most likely a refurb
