Order new channels from Guide

Does anyone know if you can lock or turn this feature off. Do I now have to lock unsuscribed channels. Having young kids I dont want them accidently ordering a channel. I have PPV locked but not unsubscribed channels. It appears to not ask for the lock code if you select one of the channels in green.

All you can do so far is to lock the channel out with channel lock feature in the locks menu.

hey there...you can't order channels on the guide unless they are PPV; if you place a ppv lock on the reciever; then no one can inadvertantly order something from the guide

If your system is locked, you need to enter your passcode before the new channel order will go through. If the system is unlocked, I'm not sure what would happen... so the best advice is to lock the system ,whether you have any individual locks set or not (I would imagine, with kids in the house, you have PPV and adult locks set, anyway... and maybe ratings locks).

You are talking about the channel purchase feature on channel 100 aint you? Where the channels in green on the program guide are the ones you can purchase?

I have PPV and Adult locked and the system locked. For the channels highlighted in green you can tstill select and it takes you into the interactive guide to purchase additional channels. You see the channel you selected and all other channels (including adult). I tried locking channel 100 but you can still get this far. I would have hoped that Dish would have an option in system setup to turn this feature off.

what is your receiver model number? I've never seen green channels. But then again, I have AT150, that may be why.

Nigel - true, you will still go into the "order" screen, but you can't complete the transaction without entering the passcode.

I don't really see why they enable the purchase of channels from the guide... especially since they seem rather selective on which ones you can order that way while all of them are available through the CS feature.

Now, if you accidently click on a "green" channel, you have to wait for the application to load... it's a pain.

I wish they would disable guide access, and allow you to buy only from the CS feature on Dish Home.

To others, I'm not sure what models have the "order from guide" feature, but they have to be OpenTV compatible. The 501/508 models have this feature.

Any receiver that has opentv has this feature: 3800, 4900, 301, 501, 508
