Funny, its not on the guide though. There are other shows in that time slot and I cannot find it anywhere. Maybe they will update the guide when it gets closer to the date.

10PT = 2ET. With launch at 0235E, that should be about right.

Here's your opportunity to setup a SeriesLink to always catch the launches and landings. It works great for me!

Yes I am...I could get tickets, http://www.ksctickets.com/ltt.html?ic_campID=4&ic_pkw=GH_launch_Feb08
but my sister-in-law is a NASA sec'ty in charge of VIP seating, and my brother
works for United Space Allience(Shuttle Maint.) In addition my Mom has a condo on the water in Merritt Island, that faces the pads, so I can get a few
"winks" in before heading out to the pad area.:D It's nice to be retired!!:)

Great... A night launch.... I can't wait for the tourists to start running each other over at the intersection of Hwy 50 and US 1 in Titusville. It's bad enough during a day time launch.....

I got to remember to rope off the front yard so the tourist won't park on it...

I can't wait for the break that will come when the shuttles are retired. I love watching them. I just hate the way the tourists (read - non space coast residents) act when they are here to watch a launch. I've had people park vehicles on my property and walk into my backyard to watch the shot, knock on my door and ask to use the bathroom, and leave their garbage in my yard.

Please, if you are going to watch the launch, do it from home. You will see more of it via your TV then being across the river or on the island. Please give the local residents a break.

So people shouldn't be allowed to come watch an amazing spectacle that should be seen at least once in a lifetime because you are inconvenienced? Jeez. :nono2:

YOU are a lucky guy. I actually FOUND a VIP pass for shuttle launch #2 many years ago. I stuck it on the dash of my car and was waved in to the press area which is about 3 miles from the pad. Now I have to take pictures from SledDog's back yard. ;)

Can us transplants from the Treasure Coast come up to watch it? :D

"Location: Tourist/Snowbird - infested Florida" ???

Looks like you're just visiting, too, Yanqui... GO HOME!!!

Don't talk to me about tourists. I live in Nashville. We have them 24/7. Sure, they can be annoying at times, but then, so can the guy down the street... They're ok. They help keep my taxes down, and I like that.

Why the @#$% did you come to the Space Coast, knowing it would be like that... cause surely you KNEW it would be like that??? If the local residents (of which you don't really appear to belong) didn't move there with their eyes wide open, it's their own fault. Oh, also, learn the difference between "then" and "than." Where are you REALLY from when YOU aren't being a tourist?

Btw, I'll be one of the tourists coming your way to watch the launch. What's your address? I'll know what to do with your rope... tie my tent flaps closed when I pitch it in your back yard.

Or you could always charge them ten bucks a piece to park on your lawn. Good money making opertunity......

There might be enough people going to plan a shuttle launch party at SledDog's house. ;)

Oh man, I just stumbled across this thread, almost missed it. I'm at work so i scheduled the recording with the remote scheduling feature. I love technology.

Although I see nowit's going to be broadcast 3 more times in the next couple of days with the last time being 9 a.m on the 12th. This should look pretty awesome.

Agreed, how was the coverage and such? Hopefully all went well and mine is sitting on my DVR at home waiting for me ;)

It was pretty cool, but due to low clouds the shuttle disappeared rather quickly. And whoever is responsible for cleaning the lenses should be fired, you'll see.

Hrm, ya it was ok. Really not too spectacular as the clouds covered it within seconds it seemed like.

Also lots of stupid small talk, glad I had it recorded so I could skip through the boring bits :p

I just watched it. You are right about the lens cleaning. No matter how many of these I've seen, they are still impressive. Great stuff.

I was just at KSC for a tour a few weeks ago. Endeavor was already on the pad when we were there, so it is amazing to see it take off.

After watching the John Glenn shuttle launch from Jetty Park (although now I'm tempted to wade through SledDog's yard too) I have to say being able to share the sights and some of the sounds with my 8 year old was a great moment for me. The audio as the rockets superheat the air (that louder than thunder rumble) in DD5.1 was as close as I have ever been to being there- plus the night sky lighting up like an a-bomb... To sum it up in her words, "COOOL!"

The multi angles and replays were what did it for me. I agree the banter was a yawn fest, and I sat through much of the banter early in the shuttle programs...

I didn't make it to this one. Someone broke into my car last week and stole my camera and lens, so I didn't bother getting up to get some shots. It probably would have been better in Vero Beach than in SledDog's yard because of the cloud coverage. I have found that watching from here with a low cloud cover you actually see more because you see it climb out of the clouds if conditions are right.

Got to go camera shopping.... if the insurance company comes through.

Richard..really sorry about your camera....My brother used a Nikon D40X for some
pics....not like the brownie of old:grin: You are sure correct about the distance thing....shuttle disappeared really fast into the clouds...HDNET did a good job on
this one(except for that insane banter)....

This is the second camera that I have had stolen from cars in the past. The first was an Olympus OS-1, many years ago, and now this one, a Canon XTi with the kit lens and a 75-300 zoom lens. They left my fixed 400mm lens that cost more than the camera and was sitting right next to the camera behind. I got a call from the police tonight and they have a suspect, but I doubt that he still has the goods from MY car. This all happened last Friday night. My car was sitting in my carport. I hope the thief enjoyed the drugs.

By the way, back on topic, I witnessed one night launch from here a while back on a clear night where I could actually watch the shuttle nearly all the way to the horizon. THAT was a memorable launch (not that they all aren't).
