I have 6 tv & receivers hooked up on DirectTV. All were working just fine, then we had to go out of town for 5 months on an emergency, now when we come back we can NOT get all the chanels on tow of the receivers. Both receivers are D-12
and we have one D-12 working jsut fine and one D11 working fine and two DRV receivers working fine... Any help please.
Talked to DirecTV and they are no help at all, poor service in my opinion!:(

Did they "refresh your services" on those receivers?

DirecTV will deactivate receivers and/or shut off service after a long period of inactivty. 5 Months would be considered a long period and unless you had all those receivers powered on while you were gone more than likely the deactivated a few of them.

Would they deactivate just two receivers out of 6 of them? When we first got back home they all worked just fine, then two of them only will get stations on one transponder, transponder 2.

I think you'll want to talk to DirecTV again. Keep trying until you get someone knowledgable. They'll have to fix this for you.
Why don't you try moving the malfunctioning receivers to a working location for testing there?

Thanks for the idea, I did just that today and it did NOT work, so from that I think it is not the receiver. So it must be the signal not strong enough or something.
I do get a good picture on the one transponder number 2 I think it is. But nothing on transponder number one?:(
I think what you're saying is that a working receiver did not work in the non-working receiver location. Sounds like you have a cabling or other installation problem. You'll need to contact whoever maintains your MDU system.

Yes that is what I am saying, the working receiver I moved to a nonworking
receiver location, and it did not work. There are some multiplexers and some
duplexers I think you call them, could it be one of them?
Is this a multiple dwelling unit commercial installation?

No it is a single 3 bedroom house one story. :(

So why is this post in the MDU section.....do you have an MDU system?
OK, so this thread is in the wrong forum. Anyhow, you're going to need to check all your cable connectors for looseness and corrosion inside the connector. Re-tighten them until just snug with a 7/16" wrench.
If you don't find a connector problem, isolate which are your working cables and which are your non-working cables by unplugging them one-at-a-time. Label all your cables. Then try hooking a non-working cable to a port on your multi-switch where a working cable was connected.
You can also try connecting a non-working cable directly to a dish cable through a double-female "barrel" connector (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103459&cp=2032058.2032231.2032280&pg=2&allCount=314&fbn=Cable+type%2FCouplers&f=PAD%2FCable+Type%2FCouplers&fbc=1&parentPage=family) to check that line without going through the multi-switch.
This is highly likely to be a connector problem, but if you have any diplexers in your system for simultaneously using any of these cables with an OTA TV antenna, they need to be temporarily removed.

Well I finaly got DirectTV out to find my problem, the installer had 2 multiplexers in a row splitting the signal so this guy said. He replaced them both with one
6X8 multiplexrer and all is working just fine now.....who would have thought any installer would have used two multiplexers in a row like this guy did. This guy said the signal was being split too many times.
Thanks for all your help!

If these were WB68s, then you are not supposed to cascade them (I think that's what you mean by "stack" - connect four outputs of one multiswitch to the four inputs of another giving you 12 outputs in total).
I think the reason why no-one suggested you might have this problem is you said everything was working OK when you left.

They did all work just fine right after they were installed. But I was mistaken about them all working ok NOW. Yesterday my wife was watching tv on the tv in
the kitchen, then I turned on the tv in the bedroom, and the tv in the kitchen
went back to "searching for signal (771)", so I guess I still have the problem.
Any ideas now?

Well I got the TV guy back out and he tested the signal in the two receivers that was NOT working and found he got a signal tooooo weak for receiving TV. So he went up in the attic and found the installer had split the signal in the attic to the
two tv's that was not working. He redid the two coaxels with no splits and now
they both work good and he tested again and had a good signal to both receivers.....Finaly problem solved....Guess the whold problem was from the first installer not knowing what he was doing.....
Thanks for your help and ideas,
