When I fire up my 'ptr there are programs that start up that I really don't want to.
I know there is a menu somewhere that allows one to disable programs from starting up when the 'ptr starts up but for the life of me I can't find it.
Can anyone tell me where it is?

msconfig works, but if you don't want to use it, you can go directly to the startup folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Login Name here"\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Remove the shortcut icons for the programs that you don't want to start automatically.

Thanks Larry.
Found it and I took care of my issue.
I was "bright" enough to set a system restore point before I made the changes.

I am going to print out your suggestion for the next time I want to make changes.
Thanks.

And some programs add a shortcut to the "All Programs -> Startup" folder.

If it's one of those programs you want to disable from startup, you can simply delete that shortcut from that folder, but make sure you delete from whatever folderSSSS you wish the setting to truely affect.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\Just My Username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Same holds true if you want to ADD a program to your startup.
Just add a program's shortcut TO the desired users folder.

Edit .... Darn, Mikey beat me to it
:D

Personally I like AutoRuns.
