View Full Version : Poem for Columbia

Unthinkable

The stars do not burn as brightly tonight.
As they mourn in silent prayer.
For tragedy fell to Earth this day;
Across a sky so fair.

A nation down upon its knees,
Again it wonders why.
With all the danger, despair and fear.
Man still has need to fly.

Seven souls once more set sail amid
The cheers and roaring flame.
The earth released them to the sky,
Ne're to return again.

With feet still planted on the ground
We look above and grieve.
For those who bravely took to wing
For all that we believe.

Sing and dance among the stars
Brave soldiers of the sky,
For you have done what we cannot.
Your souls are free to fly.

I could have posted it over in the Potpourri forum or added it to the shuttle discussions I guess. Sometimes I consider this an extension of the potpourri forum without all the arguing and bickering. Good place for small stuff.
