I could not help but notice while watching an airing of Montreux Jazz 2004 today.... RaveHD looked like total crap. I mean, far beyond the worst I have seen of any HD channel. Blocks, artifacts... every time a drum cymbal came into view it had blocky edges. It was nasty. I take it Dish might have jacked up the compression recently?
I did have some fun a couple of months ago. I had a Soundstage recorded from back when the 622s first came out. Then I recorded the same episode from a week ago. When you play back and compare the two, you can absolutely see the difference. The one from almost two years ago is pristine; the recent one is obviously worse.
