My second directv bill just autopayed, and still no $20 / month rebate. I submitted the rebate online very shortly after my account was activated.
Also, the page always says that the autopay is scheduled about 3 weeks into the month, yet they hit my credit card immediately after closing last months bill.
Thirdly, has anyone received a $50 visa gift card for autopaying for 3 months? How long did that take?

Your $20 credit kicks in 6-8 weeks after processing (so 2-3 month). You should see it on your next bill.

Yah, I thought it was 6-8 weeks for processing as well.
As for the auto pay - not sure.

If you just made the second auto payment, that means you have been with DirecTV for only 30 days. If you check your rebate status online, you should just have been approved which means you should begin to see the impact of the rebate in your next payment.

Because like all services, you pay for the future month ahead of time not the past service. When your last bill closes is when you need to pay your next monthly bill because your bill's due date is on the closing date. If you don't use autopay, then you get a grace period about 3 weeks past the due date before you must pay by mail or other means.

One must keep autopay for at least 60 days to qualify for the $50 card.

I understand that. However, it specifically says "Autopay scheduled for 3/21/08". Yet the auto pay took place on 3/2/08.
Another question: When the $20 rebate kicks in, will it be $20 a month for the following twelve months? Or will they back date it and give me 2 x $20 rebates for the previous two months and then $20 a month from then on?
Sorry for the absurd questions, it's just that my bill is literally TWICE the amount it should be. I know where some of the additional $$ are coming from, but can't figure out why it's so high. I guess I have to wait for the paper bill. Hopefully it'll be more thorough than the "activity since last bill" pane on my account page.

I would suggest that you don't use autopay. They will take out the payment the day they post your invoice. In addition if the bill is incorrect you will only get credits not a refund. I like to pay online but at my choice.
