HR20/21 on a Network

I am sure the question has been asked, I did some searching and couldn't find it, so I will ask again...

I successfully connected my Hr20-700 to a wireless network last night in order to use DOD. Now that I have the ethernet/internet connection, is a phone line still required or does things like firmware downloads come over the internet.

Software updates are done via the SAT. You do not need a phone line or network connection for that.

The only thing you need the phone line connect for now is Caller ID if you want to use that.

The network connection will allow you to order PPV from the remote if you want to.
