I have been having issues with my HR21 and the signal from 103(c). Several times a day the signal on my mpeg4 hd channels with have very bad pixilation and it makes the TV unwatchable. When this happens I check the signal strength and the signals on both tuner 1 and 2 are in the 60's. In about five minutes the signals are fine and are in the upper 80's or 90's.
I initially had the searching for signal 771 issue and the first service tech changed out the LNB and switch. Since then I no longer get the 771 message but now have the signal strength fluctuations.
I had a second service call yesterday and they changed a connector near the switch and changed out the BBC's. They also checked the alignment and did a hard reset of the HR21. The signal appears to have increased but about 4 hours after the service tech left the picture started to break up and the signal strength dropped to the 60's and after about 10 minutes the strength was back in the 90's.
This is very frustrating does anyone have a suggestion?

So the LNB, multis-switch, BBC's, and a connector have been replaced? And the dish was re-aligned? Correct?
Do you have other receivers having problems, or can you swap receivers around and see if the problem follows the receiver?
You could still have a bad cable run or connectors or a bad receiver. As this been a problem since the initial install of the HR21?

Yes the LNB, multiswitch, connectors and BBC's have been replaced.
I first had the searching for 771 issues which seems to have been resolved when they changed out the LNB and the multiswitch.
Now i just have the signal issues but do not get the 771 message.
I have four receivers and including the HD DVR but only one HD box so i cannot move the boxes around to see if it is a receiver issue.

So is this only occurring on the HR21? Aslo, how many of the connectors were replaced? Were both feeds and all connectors?
Are all of your other signal levels on the other SAT's and receivers good when this problem occurs?

The signal strength on all the other satellites is excellent. This only happens on the MPEG 4 channels. I have not checked the signal strength on the other receivers since they are not HD. Can i even get the signal strength for 103c on non-hd boxes? If so, i will check them this evening.
The tech said he changed out the connectors at the switch. He did not indicate how many connectors he changed or any other detail. I was at work when he was at the house and my wife who was there is not what i would call TV savvy. :)

Can you get to the dish? Is it stable and there is no movement.

It is on a second story roof and is not easily accessible. According to the tech yesterday the dish is fine and there should be no issues with the install.
Try bypassing the new multi-switch, running the HR to two of the dish lines with double female "barrel" connectors, and see if you still have the fluctuations. Take a look at both tuners when the signals are down to see if both tuners are effected. It almost sounds like your dish is moving.....

I went ahead and requested a replacement receiver last night. I will see if that was the problem before climbing up on the roof again. I will see if that fixes the problem if not it will be time to get the ladder out again.
Thanks for all your input.
