External hard Drive Help

I was using a western digital Ext hard drive with my 622 receiver but was not utilizing it very often so I wanted to use it again with my PC. I realize it needs to be reformated to work with my PC again but when I hooked it up to my PC, it wasn't recognized. I could hear the beeps for the USB, but the HD did not appear in Windows Explorer. I rebooted in the hopes it would be there but nothing. I went onto WD's website to find Vista USB drivers but they didn't have anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

You should contact WD tech support directly. Sometimes, there are procedures that the techs know about that aren't publicized. Does the drive still work with the ViP722?

thanks-I went back to the Western Digital site to find contact info for tech support and was able to find instructions on how to reformat the drive...in the process of doing so now!
