Hope this has not been covered. I did a search, but you never know.
If you sign up for DishDVR Advantage, you will save the $5.98 DVR Service Fee. We were signed up for the 'Advantage' plan, but you have to call and have them remove the DVR service fee. You have to have paperless billing (we did) or a 2 year contract. So, we had the plan, and we qualified, but you don't get the savings unless you call and ask for it. How nice is that??!

When I first got my 622, had to call twice to get the programming access fee removed.
When I went to DVR Advantage, paperless billing and autopay, everything worked out fine.
It's hit or miss.

How nice is that??!I was a Digital Home Advantage customer. Thinking "Advantage" meant "Advantage" I foolishly ignored the rate change stuff posted on these threads. But in February, I got a mailing from Dish that explained the DVR Advantage. I followed-up on line and it worked after two interactions. I don't expect them to automatically go through every account and send out an agreement for the best deal.

I got the insert from Dish - not with a bill. For me it isn't a better deal because I don't pay a monthly DVR fee (I have a 508 and 721). For most other people it's probably a good idea.

It is a great deal for people with a fee'd DVR ... It basically erases that first DVR fee.

I switched to DVR advantage when the price increase for AT-200 was announced. Prior to that I did not sub to my locals (I live in the "antenna farm") my OTA picture blows away the satellite locals.
Anyway I had to sub to the Cleveland locals to get DVR advantage. My bill went up a whole $1.01 and now I get guide data for my OTA locals and no more DVR fee!

If one has a 501 and a ViP622 and the 501 is the primary receiver, would that make a difference with regards to a DVR fee?

Logically yes ... they may have to make the 622 primary. Ask DISH.

Since there is no DVR fee with the DP501, I was wondering if erased the first DVR fee, that would be the ViP622. I'll check with Dish. Thanks, as always.
I don't believe you need the DVR to be the Primary - it should just remove ONE fee. But DISH always seems to have some unusual billing procedures and it just might be that removal of the DVR fee is automatic when the Primary has a DVR fee and some of the people that had trouble getting the DVR fee waived don't have it as the Primary. Speculation of course.

I signed up too. Dish has also saved me a BUNDLE in that ... to date they still have not charged me for the $0.01. Should I call and ask why they have not charged me? ;)
Hi Denver, did you sign up online or did you call in to get the premium channel for .01 till 2010?
thanks,
