I am having a weird issue with my TIVO. My power supply gave out in December. I purchased a used TIVO on Ebay to use as a parts donor. I finally put the PS in today and fired up my TIVO. My TIVO powered up fine but I had a black screen and had multiple messages stating that my account was closed. I checked my connections and rebooted the system. Still no luck. I am able to view system info, Now Playing List, can watch a previously recorded show and when Live tv is on I can view the info banner, but no actual video, just black screen. As far as I know I am getting a sat signal, when I check system info it states that I have about 96%.

I finally called Directv and they were unable to figure it out. They want to send out a tech to tell me whether the unit is bad or not. I figured I would check with you guys first to see if you can help me figure this out. Thanks in advance for your help.

You might want to give it some time to grab stream data. Sometimes when you plug in a box after being unpluged for a week or so, it will need to update from the stream before everything starts to work the way it should.

How long has it been died?

Is your Tivo connected to a phone line?

It has been dead for at least a month and disconnected for almost as long as it has been dead.

Yes, I did connect it and try to call in but it is unsuccessful, no answer.

I am baffled by this. I even brought up a TIVO from my basement that has been disconnected for a week or so just to check and it works fine other than needing to repopulate the guide info. So I know my cables are good and the connections are alright.

See if you can reauthorize your receiver from the DIRECTV web site:

I recently replaced the HD in my R10. I was then having a problem making the initial call in to authorize the DVR. The call works only if made during business hours it seems.

I had tried several times during the day on a Saturday, then late on a Monday night. The following Friday I rushed home from work and completed the set up before 6:00 pm.

I'll have to give it a try. I would be shocked if it actually worked considering the CSR's were trying to reset my account and had no luck. I guess stranger things have happened before.
