Haven't heard from the installers as yet. I thought they were supposed to call the night before, or am I mistaken?

If they don't call the night before, they should call when they are on the way. They have to make sure you're there.

It seems to vary widely whether or not the installer will call in advance. Rarely the day before. Likely before they show up to make sure you are there.

Consider calling and asking the directv installation CSR for the phone number of the local installation company assigned to you for the install and then call that company to confirm the installation day, time, equipment and anything else special. This might help to avoid surprises and missed appointments.

Thanks to all who replied. Whenever they come, I'm ready.

While I can't speak for other markets, I can tell you that here in Cleveland we don't get our assignments until the morning of. So, you will NEVER get a call from the actuall installer the night before.

So, I can't go over when I think I might be there, talk to you about what will be done on the install/upgrade/service call or even make sure you still need us to come out or that you'll be home.

Most HSP sub-contractors get their routes between 6-7am the day of the work. That procludes pre-calls. Of course, the HSP itself has access to the whole calendar, so it doesn't have to be this way. The HSP sees one of its jobs as keeping it's subcontractors off-balance, so that their ability to succeed is limited. That way, the subs never pose a threat to the HSP.

Called at 11 AM and arrived about 11:30. Two guys, showed them where each receiver went and then took them to the attic. Their faces were a picture when they saw the cables laid out and identified - one even offered to buy me a drink! They were gone by about 1:10, everything up and running.

Glad it went pretty smooth for you. :righton:
