View Full Version : Missing HD channels

I just upgraded a non HD receiver to an HD receiver but I’m only receiving selected channels in HD. I have an HD DVR in my main room and on that set I receive all the HD channels. However, on the new receiver a majority of the channels don’t even appear to have HD counter parts. So while I receive HBO and TNT in HD my locals, CNBC , NFL Network and other don’t even appear to have an HD option in the guide.
Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Maybe refresh your services for the new receiver? Or restart it?

Do you have BBC's attached?

Did you set the SAT setup for a 5LNB dish? I have a feeling you set it to 3LNB.

I do have the BBC attached and I do have the 5LNB selected. Direct TV can't figure it out either; they suggested a house call for $80.....

You might try swapping the HD DVR and Receiver locations. That will help you determine if it's a box issue or a wiring/cabling/feed issue.

They want to charge you for a service call on a new HD receiver? That's a lot of intestinal fortitude on their part. is the unit not under waranty?
What you are seeing is the dark side of commitments, D* & E*. When you activated the new HD Receiver you probably extended your commitment.

What model? And do move it to the location where all is good.

Issue Resolved but I don't know why.... After working with another support tech for a while I scheduled a service appointment. However, just as I was about to turn the TV off it notified me of a software update and after it completed my issue was resolved. Thank you all so much for your help!

It's the software update that solved the problem. The out-of-the-box software was too old to properly recognize the new HD satellites.

Ahh... Didn't think of that one. I will remember that for next time.
