My digital movies collection is growing quite large, with a new 500 GB drive dedicated to housing the files.
I've been playing some on my Philips DVD player via the USB port, but heavy motion scenes tend to get choppy.
All of the movies play smoothly using the HR20-700's Media Share and TVersity, but there are some very annoying resolution limtations and cropping issues.

So, here's the question:
What other options do I have?

I have a wired 100 mb network between the PC and the home theater.
If the right system existed, I could be in the market to upgrade my receiver and my DVD player, if there were something out there that could incoporate streaming the movies from the PC in their original resolutions and handle AC3 audio as well.

Otherwise, even an standalone converter that works well would be of interest.

What are you guys using, or what have you used?
Pros / cons?

I found this after my original post.
D-Link DSM-330 (http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/01/07/d-link-dsm-330-divx-connected-hd-media-player-on-its-way-to-the/) is coming soon!

There were a few others in development as well.
Looks like there's always something out there worth waiting for.

Windows Media Center extenders are the best option in my opinion. There are several that also have DVD players built in. This is Windows only solution, but very good IMHO. Playback, even HD, is very nice. Copying movies to a Media Center machine is very easy with free 3rd party software. You can even use WHS as your main storage point if needed. I use it as my media distribution method and love it.
