I am thinking about getting DirecTV service at my new apartment. I'm going to get an HD DVR, and two Standard receivers. I have high speed internet, but no phone service. Will this be a problem with DirecTV?

DIRECTV will say you need a phone line and have it connected to your receivers but you do not.

Some installers might give you a hard time if you don't have a phone connection. Just tell them it's being installed "in a few weeks" and that you'll connect the phone yourself. As BMoreRavens points out, you don't really need a phone connection. You just won't have on-screen caller ID and you won't be able to order PPV movies with your remote (although that feature will soon work via an internet connection). In the mean time, just order your PPV movies via DirecTV's web site at no extra cost.
the HD DVR can be networked and itll count as the phone connection.

Since I just canceled my land line in favor of cell only service, I hope not. ;)
