Doing a routine check on the Dishplayer's hidden guide this morning I ran across the Huntsville locals listed on channels 9195-9200. www.dishchannelchart.com
For those that do not know, the Dishplayer's EPG is a little different than all the other receivers' guides in that you can force the unit to show all the channels listed on the EPG whether you can get them or not. 98% of the time when a channel shows on the "hidden" guide, the channel will be coming to the Dish line-up eventually. The 2% included Baltimore which was listed on the "hidden" guide in 2001 but never materialized. Anyway, since Huntsville had been "announced" unofficially elsewhere on this forum and I saw it listed, I thought I'd share.
Listed are the ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox affiliates from Huntsville/Decatur, a remap of WIBQ PBS Birmingham and an independent (26) out of Florence. Conspicuously missing from the list is the UPN affiliate out of Florence. The transmitter is 35 miles away from Huntsville.
And now for the mandatory questions....
Q: Anyone know when {insert city name here} will be added?
A: I don't know. No one knows beyond the other info already on this furum. If anyone hears anything about any new city, you will definitely see a post about it just like this one.
Q: I live in BFE Alabama but still in the Huntsville DMA. When I got Dish I qualified for distant network channels. Will I lose (loose) them once Huntsville goes up?
A: If you qualified for distant networks WITHOUT needing waivers from Huntsville locals then you will not lose (loose) the distant channels even if you order the locals. If you needed a waiver (even if they were obtained without your knowledge by Dish to keep your subscription dollars coming in) then the local station MAY revoke the waiver when the channels become available. However, ordering the locals WILL NOT trigger the audit.
