View Full Version : Cascading 3 6x8 multiswitches
I have an installer here right now who is attempting to cascade 3 6x8 multiswitches to accommodate my 14 needed connections. Is this even possible?? Are 6x16's really that valuable to DTV?

I have 2 cascaded with no problems. Make sure everything works when he is done, he may not have any of the larger switches with him.
He just left and everything was working fine. Great signal from all boxes.
it is not recommended to cascade 2, let alone 3. you might have good signal now but it will probably be real finnicky
if i were you i would buy four 3-way wideband splitter and a sonora polarity locker and set it up the right way, then you wont have to worry about anything

for 14 connections the recomended way is 4 splitters (dual powerpass) into 2 wb68s..

LOL, your right. i wasnt even thinking. i just had 3- wb68's on my mind because of the topic. good catch!
I just bought a Zinwell 6x16 on my own. Although everything seems to be working fine now there is no "pretty" way to get these things to fit in my wiring closet.

I mentioned that to the installer, it was like I was talking German.

Cascading switches is an approved method by both Zinwell and DirecTV. Using (proper) splitters is more cost-efficient, but few installers have the right splitters or understand how to use them, as it isn't taught to them or something they often encounter.
Still, either method works fine.
