View Full Version : No more HD OTA without D* HD package?
I just talked to a uddy that I have not seen in a while. He said right before the Super Bowl we saw his HR20 got a NR update. After that he was no longer able to use a OTA for HD locals because he did not have a HD package. He was on the same old TC+ package he had for years.
When did this start? He spoke to 12 different D* reps and they all saiod the same thing. NO HD Package, NO OTA HD locals. So he added the HD package and was FORCED to get the new pricing plan.
I have had the HD package for years so I was not aware of this.

This started several weeks ago. Several threads here about it.
I have 2 questions regarding your info you posted:
1) How did he have a HR2x series without HD in the first place? Part of the lease agreement is to have it active w/DVR and HD. Its a requirement according to the TOS. Or is his owned?
2) He should not have been FORCED to get the new pricing plan, you can add HD to the grandfathered packages as I just did a few weeks ago and many others have talked about doing very recently.
I second Grentz. I have Total Choice + and wasn't forced into a new tier at all.

You can make additions to a grandfathered package.

I got hr20 without hd package. first 1 was given to me by D* as retention promise, second one was bought. both activated and worked fine (sd of course) without agreeing to hd package.
then 1 morning in February I had to call to re-enable the ota, d* told me it was free and message on screen also said it was free. then 3 days later I noticed the HD charge on my account, called to ask because I was told it was free, got 3 months HD free. had no problem with getting the hd package, was planning to anyway, but was wondering why the free messages were false.
