The folks at Dish Network were kind enough to send me detailed instructions on how the new Descrete SD/HD feature works.

This information is usefull for those of you with programmable remotes such as a pronto.

BTW if anyone has a nice CCF file for the 721 on an address other then 1 let me know. :)

Here are the detailed instructions for your enjoyment from your friends here at DBSTalk.COM

In order for this to work, you need the latest Model 6000 code (777P) which is now available for download. Here is a description of the key sequence needed to employ it.

______________________________________

Overview:

Several customers have expressed the desire to have discrete SD/HD codes rather than one toggle key. Most need this feature to program universal remote-type units which require the separate codes. Because the 6000 remote does not have two free key codes, this feature had to be implemented using a sequence of two keys. By pressing the SD/HD (TV/VIDEO) toggle key and then pressing the PAGE_UP key (after letting up on the SD/HD key) the receiver will end up in the HD state regardless of the start state. Similarly, the SD/HD toggle key and PAGE_DOWN key will change the receiver state to SD.

Detailed Operation:
The sequence should work as follows:

Sequence

Action

Response

1.Press and release the SD/HD toggle key.
The Receiver should immediately toggle its state (SD --> HD, or HD -->SD). This is normal operation.

2. a. Within two seconds of the above key press (the timer starts after the initial code is sent out) press the PAGE_UP key.

If the receiver is in the HD state then it should stay there. Otherwise, the receiver should transition to the HD state (HD --> HD, or SD --> HD).

2. b. (alternative to 2. a.) Within two seconds of the above key press (the timer starts after the initial code is sent out) press the PAGE_DOWN key.

If the receiver is in the SD state then it should stay there. Otherwise, the receiver should transition to the SD state (SD --> SD, or HD --> SD).

Note that the receiver may transition from SD --> HD --> SD if it starts out in SD and the customer gives it a discrete SD (SD/HD toggle, PAGE_DOWN) key sequence. This is because the normal toggle operation has not been inhibited.

Hope this helps!
