As of about 1am Friday morning some of the NY local HD channels got knocked off the air, and they are still off as I'm writing this.
Originally since I was using the OTA tuner when I noticed it, I thought the transmitters at the Empire State Building were just shut down for some late-night maintenance, but then I flipped over to DirecTV's satellite-delivered counterparts and discovered they're out too. However it's just the HD versions that are affected, the SD versions are still on, both OTA and via satellite.
How do the local markets (particularly NY) get their signals to DirecTV? I would have thought they'd send a direct feed so a local transmitter outage would not affect the satellite signal.
Here are the English channels that I know are out:
2 WCBS (D* channel displays a message indicating there's a local outage)
4 WNBC (D* channel is black)
9 WWOR (OTA channel is out but D* is on)
11 WPIX (D* channel is black)
