I've been a D* sub since 1995. I currently have 2 HR20's, 1 H20 & 1 HR10-250 all installed and in everyday use (well the later installed anyway, not used much these days).
I've also over time, accumulated and have stored away 2 H10-200's, 1 R15-100 & 1 R15-500. I'll never use them. What can/should I do with these last 4? Could I sell them? Does D* expect me to return them? I really don't care much one way or the other, I'd just like to get rid of them...
TIA...

When did you get them? Any receiver added starting March 2006 is a leased unit and needs to be returned to DIRECTV when deactivated. If you got it before then you can sell them.

I asked something similar a while back on what to do with an H10 and some old RCA units. Someone suggest I look for a local electronics recycler here, and I found one that worked for me.

Excellent thought. Recycling is a great way to go.

If the R15's are owned you could always salvage the HDD's. If they are leased you need to return the units.

Mike and Stuart hit the nail on the head with Recycling the H10-200's.

Do we have to ship it back ourselves?

DIRECTV will ship you a prepaid shipping box for FedEx. Pack it up and put the shipping label on the box. Then call FedEx for pick up or drop it off to them.

If the unit was leased the CSR should order a recovery kit when it is deactivated.

If they failed to order one you can always call in and request it.

No, Directv will send you a prepaid postage box. They are supposed to send you when you de-activate a receiver, but they don't always. I'm sure you can give them a call and tell them what you need to send back and they will send you a prpaid postage box.

D'oh, Ratara beat me to the punch.
