View Full Version : Dish Network HW Equip HD, Int'l Program
Can you please help me with the equipment required for the following dish Network Setup in New Jersey(Northeastern U.S.):
1. Is the hardware equipment correct that I need to purchase to receive all high definition programming and South Asian International Programming?
Hardware Equipment:
1 Dish 500 Plus
1 Dish 500 Dual LNBF or Dish 300 Dishpro Dual LNB
2 DP 44 Switch
2 Separators
Requirement
American Programming - Satellite 110, 119
International South Asian Programming - Satellite 118.7
American HD Programming - 61.5
*129W mirrors 61.5 for HD but 129 is not available in the Northeast NJ(Zip Code 07663) so Dish 1000 is not an option which would give you all the satellites
*Need two different satellites to receive HD American Programming plus all of the International Channels that are going to moving from 121 to 118.7
Setup:
Both dishes must face south. Use two DP44 swiches with a power inverter.
6 Rooms Wiring Connections inside House
2 Dual Tuner Receiver
4 High Definion Receivers
Questions
1. One RG-6 Connection from DP44 Switch coming inside the house, Use the separator when it comes into the room. Then take the two lines and connect to the dual tuner receiver. Can I also change that to a regular single tuner high definition receiver afterwards if I remove the separator?
2. Why can't we pick up the 129West programming in NJ for High Definition and use Dish 1000?
3. Do I need a Dishpro Dual LNBF for the second Dish 500 or Dish 300?
4. Any other equipment required to receive all 4 Satellites?

:welcome_s to DBSTalk!
1. Yes you can.
2. You might be able to, but NJ is outside the official footprint of 129° (http://ekb.dbstalk.com/pictures/Dish1000Exclusions.jpg") (bottom of page).
3. Yes, a DP Dual or a DP Single. You do not need a DP Twin.
4. You have a good understanding of what is needed. The Separators come in the box with the dual-tuner receivers. Two DPP44 switches is correct for getting 4 satellites to more than 4 receivers.
Requirements:
American Programming, South Asian Int'l Programming, and HD Programming in NJ to 6 Receivers

A)Yes you can

A). You might be able to, but NJ is outside the official footprint of 129° (bottom of page)
3. Do I need a Dishpro Dual LNBF for the second Dish 500 or Dish 300?
A) A DP Dual or a DP Single. You do not need a DP Twin
4. Any other equipment required to receive all 4 Satellites
A) You have a good understanding of what is needed. The Separators come in the box with the dual-tuner receivers. Two DPP44 switches is correct for getting 4 satellites to more than 4 receivers.
5. DP Dual or DP Single on a second dish is the way to receive High Defintion programming in NJ.
Does it make a difference if I use Dish 300(18") or Dish 500(20")?
Is it better to use a DP Dual LNB on a Dish 500 to receive the 61.5 connecting only one wire and a Dish 500 in case Dish adds a new satellite and don't have to remove dishes off my roof or rewire my house with wires, switches, etc. This ensures future growth or change Dish makes in the future can be met.
6. Would a single Dish Network DishPro LNBF with two output work on a Dish 500 as well as for Dish 300. It has 2 Connections on the LNB. I only need to plug in one and then cascade it to a SW44.
7. What's the best way to connect and cascade 2 SW44, Dish 500 Plus, Dish 500 (For HD Programming), 2 Separators for 2 dual tuner receivers? Do you recommend the Dish 500 Plus on a pole or Siding of the house. I prefer to put in a pole because I do not want to have any holes in the roof or wall.
8. What is Dish network planning to do with Satellite 121 as most of the Int'l programming is moving away from there. Are they going to add channels their or drop the satellite. If I have a Dish 500 for 61.5. Will Dish 500 with a DP Pro Dual LNB pick up 121 in the future if dish reactivates it?
Is Satellite 105 available in NJ?

Does it make a difference if I use Dish 300(18") or Dish 500(20")?Either is fine. When using a Dish 500 for a single slot, set the skew to 90.Is it better to use a DP Dual LNB on a Dish 500 to receive the 61.5 connecting only one wire and a Dish 500 in case Dish adds a new satellite and don't have to remove dishes off my roof or rewire my house with wires, switches, etc. This ensures future growth or change Dish makes in the future can be met.A Dual sees only 1 satellite, so I think you're asking about a Twin (I alluded to the difference in answer 3, and there's a link in my sig). The Dish 500 is designed to get 2 sats 9° apart. I've heard of nothing proposed near 52 or 70, so stick with the Dual. If someday you should need a 5th satellite, you'd better hope they also introduce the rumored DPP64 switch. Without it, your dual-tuner receivers would then need 2 lines each because cascading through a DP21 switch loses the 1-wire benefit of DP Plus switching.6. Would a single Dish Network DishPro LNBF with two output work on a Dish 500 as well as for Dish 300. It has 2 Connections on the LNB. I only need to plug in one and then cascade it to a SW44.You can put a Dual on either type of dish. It's just a direct connection, no cascade here. Cascading refers to adding a switch, SW21 for legacy or DP21 for DishPro, to a tuner/receiver output of another switch to add an LNB. The xx21 selects either the upstream switch and passes commands to it or the LNB. Also, the SW44 is a legacy switch. The one you need is the DPP44.7. What's the best way to connect and cascade 2 SW44, Dish 500 Plus, Dish 500 (For HD Programming), 2 Separators for 2 dual tuner receivers? Do you recommend the Dish 500 Plus on a pole or Siding of the house. I prefer to put in a pole because I do not want to have any holes in the roof or wall.Again, you're getting 2 DPP44 switches. They will be trunked, not cascaded, using the satellite pass-through outputs on the right side of the first into the sat inputs on the left side of the second. There is a simple diagram on the face of the switch. Use the included power inserter on output 1 of each.
I think either roof- or pole-mount is preferred over mounting to the siding due to the size of the dish. Installers?8. What is Dish network planning to do with Satellite 121 as most of the Int'l programming is moving away from there. Are they going to add channels their or drop the satellite. Not sure. It may get more commercial service. If I have a Dish 500 for 61.5.Will Dish 500 with a DP Pro Dual LNB pick up 121 in the future if dish reactivates it?No. First there's the 9° spread issue, then the fact that the 60° spread is so wide there isn't a single-dish solution. Also, the satellites at 121° and 105° are FSS so require a different type of LNB than the DBS slots. 118.75° is also FSS but is different from the others in that it uses circular polarization. Is Satellite 105 available in NJ?Yes, not that it matters. http://ekb.dbstalk.com/105list.htm
