My inlaws asked me for help here. I don't have D* though, I have dish.

Could someone help me out? They have been customers of directv for 3 years now. They have only got two cheezy boxes. Standard def, no dvr.

They have since bought an HDTV and keep an SD in the bedroom. I have recommended they get an HD DVR and a regular DVR (they each watch different TVs).

They don't want any movie channels but i guess they'll want the most regular channels they can get.

Currently for the basic only they're paying over $60.00 per month which sounds awful high for no dvr or hd.

What are their options? they're not on a contract anymore, but they need upgrades.

Have them call and ask what kind of upgrade deals they can get. Every customer is offered something different based on current discounts, time til end of contract, etc.

The should be able to get a fairly good deal on the new receivers since they're not under contract anymore, but have them call.
