When Amc 14 finally gets going ,,,, after it reaches its destination.,,
is it going to carry national hd channels,,
and if so what does that mean for a set up,,,,
because i currently have a dish 1000 +
for 110,118,119,129 going into a Sw 44 dish pro switch...
will they come out with a new switch for 5 orbital slots ?

Expect any national HD channels that appear on 61.5° to also appear on 129°.
You won't need both.

Yes.
Without doing a full inventory, there are at least five unavailable HDs uplinked at 129° that can be turned on (the two others are on 110°) ... plus at least one recently emptied transponder (capacity 6 more each). DISH has room if they want it.
BTW: I've been looking at the inventory at 61.5° tonight ...
There are four transponders that have nothing but "spotbeam" channels assigned (1,3,7,15) ... two that have "spotbeam" channels and live local markets (5,11) ... and two that have HD Locals that could be moved to spotbeams (17,21).
I assume 17 and 21 will move down to spots on lower transponders which will free up two transponders (12 HD channels) for other stuff. That is not counting the transponders being cleared of internationals and the transponder that has the five "test" channels also in "test" at 129°. Plenty of room if DISH needed to put the 129° RSNs on 61.5° or whatever they need.
AMC-14 would also help with higher power, restoring the four dead transponders and protecting against future E3 transponder failures ... but any HD delay isn't due to capacity at 61.5° or 129°.
Complaints should be directed to DISH or the rant thread ... :)

I think that the future of hd locals will all be put to spot beams...
