I just got off a long phone call with DIRECTV - first with a CSR, and then with a person from their internet support group. I wanted to be certain the information was correct before making this post. As always, the people were great to deal with. Unfortunately, the corporate procedures have a problem:
The Two Different Billing Rules:
If you order a PPV (Pay Per View) from home, using your remote control, you are not charged for the PPV until you watch it. If you never watch the PPV, or if you delete it without ever watching it, you are not charged.
If you order a PPV over the internet using the DIRECTV website, you are charged for the PPV immediately, whether you watch it or not. The charge to your account (or credit card, if you chose that option) remains whether you ever watch the PPV or not. An No, there is no mechanism to enable a credit to be ever issued. The immediate, unreversible charge by the website is not such a big deal - if you know about it. However, nothing ever mentions that the billing rules have changed.
