So I'm stuck in an MDU with a 3LNB dish and MPEG2. I don't want to pay the $69 if I'm only going to be able to get the SD games. DIRECTV's marketing efforts are poor in this area.

For example, this is from an email I received the other day:
†To access MEGA MARCH MADNESS games in HD, a 5-LNB Multi-Satellite Dish, along with DIRECTV HD receiver (H20, H21, HR20, HR21), HD television equipment and a qualifying programming package are required.

But on this page (http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageNR.jsp?assetId=P4160004&CMP=EMC-MQ-OM&ATT=120-58-080319final&m=), it says:
‡To access MEGA MARCH MADNESS games in HD, a 3-LNB or 5-LNB Multi-Satellite Dish, along with DIRECTV HD receiver, HD television equipment and a qualifying programming package are required.

Then, if you click on "Additional Offer Details" on the linked page above, we're back to where we started:
‡To access MEGA MARCH MADNESS games in HD, a 5-LNB Multi-Satellite Dish, along with DIRECTV HD receiver (H20, HR20, HR21), HD television equipment and a qualifying programming package are required.

I called customer service to ask if the HD games would be available to 3LNB/MPEG2 customers, and it was as if I was speaking a foreign language to the rep. Does anyone know the answer?

Thanks.

This is the last year it will be in MPEG-2, after this year it will be MPEG-4 from that point on.

I will tell you one thing, those MMM HD Channels look 800 times better than my local CBS HD feed does.
