I like my new HDVR2 too! Although I kinda miss the 501's guide, it was much faster, but then again, maybe I can get used to the HDVR2's guides after A while.More favorites guides would be A plus also. It's nice to be able to channel surf while soothings being recorded. You all think Directv will speed up the HDVR2's guide some way in the future? Mark, you might want to call Directv and ask them if the $10.00 off Total choice for 6 months, is available to you, if you order A premium movie package. You have to commit to A year of total choice, but the rep I talked to said it was NOT in addition to the year I committed to when I started service last month. It's one year from the date you get your first $10.00 discount! It only took me 2 calls to find A rep who was happy to give it to me. My Directv experience thus far has been A VERY pleasant one.

Make sure you try the tivo guide instead of the DirecTv grid guide. Its much faster and makes it easier to select stuff to record.

I've had mine for a month now and I love it. What I miss is the multiple guides the 501 had and when you pressed the guide button it would go through all of them. I had 1 for quick look,1 for movies,1 for music,1 for PPV.

I've gotten used to the Tivo guide. It's much better than the D*guide. which is much slower. on a second note though I have to bring back my 2nd unit for another exchange because it still has the hickups. If anybody experiences sound dropout's please see my other thread.

This still is by far the best PVR I have used and it can be upgraded to a bigger drive which is cool. The HMO option will be nice if D* will allow it. I wish it had caller id, but I can buy a separate device. I would also like to see the wishlists separate. What I mean is when you click on movies it should goes to movies and actors should go to actors. I guess folders would be nice too. but hey there's alway's room for improvement.
