View Full Version : SWM-8 does it need to be grounded?

I am ready to install my SWM-8, but have a grounding question.

Does the SWM itself need to be grounded? I am installing my SWM outdoors right after the grounding block. I see two small screws in the upper right corner - are they to attach a ground wire? Or is the SWM grounded because the PI is plugged into a grounded outlet? I haven't seen anything that looked like a ground on pictures of other peoples installations, but I was just wondering if I needed to do anything with a ground on the SWM.

Thanks!
Steve

The screw you've seen is for grounding. The PI has only a 2 prong plug so that isn't going to ground it.
My dish is on a pole [very grounded] and is the only ground in my system which works fine.
I'm not telling you not to ground your SWM, but mine works without it.

If it is "after" the ground block... then yes... you should probably ground it again.

Am I correct in thinking the two small screws are for the ground? Can I just run a wire to the same ground as the dish ground block?

Thanks!
