Over the past few months, I have read with interest various posts on this forum and avsforum.com concerning the forthcoming 921 HD-PVR, and also the many posts regarding the teething problems with the recently released 721.

As many members here understand much more about these technologies than I do, I am wondering whether the 921 upon release will benefit from the various problems experienced to date with the 721 as it is my understanding that these two units are fundamentally the same.

I will purchase a 921 as this unit fulfills many of my HD time shifting needs and provides the HD tuner that my system requires into a integrated solution.

Hard question to answer without having a 921 available. :)

We can hope that things run will with the 921. I am looking forward to getting my hands on one.

One of my wifes biggest complaints about our HDTV is that she can't PVR shows like she does on the 721 in the bedroom. :)

I would say that there would be some differences in the software to an extent. There would be some similarities but because of the hardware differences the software would have to also have some differences to accomodate that.

Hey, if they are both based on the Linux kernel, I'm sure that they will have the same problems. Its not about features, its about quality control.
