* button on 501 remote

I accidentally pressed the * (asterisk) button on my 501 remote yesterday and it took me to PVR selection. Is this the only function for this button? Does it do anything else?

if your entering a search it allows you to backspace and if you follow a certain programming code it will allow your volume to always control whatever is programmed in AUX

It must be using the fuction indicated above the button which has a left arrow on it and the 0 has a right arrow, so that would go good for editing in the search screen.

DishDude, Can you explain or point me to an explanation on how the * and the volume control work when controlling volume on the Aux while having the rest of the remote running the SAT? I am constantly switching back and forth and it sounds like this might fix that problem.
