I get local channels via the SF Bay Area, which includes the CW net. A friend is moving into the area, but into Santa Cruz county, not Santa Clara where I reside. I tried asking DTV if she will be able to get CW, they tried to tell me it's not available in MY area (I wonder what they smoke over there????). My channel line up includes a listing for a generic CW channel that I cannot receive (is this the East coast Distant Feed I read about?). Santa Cruz county offers SF's ABC/KGO-TV, why not CW? When she moves in could I take her my receiver and get the same channels I receive in Santa Clara county, or does the unit somehow know exactly where it is? The house she's going to already has a DTV dish, but she may bag it for cable if that's the case (there's stuff on CW she really likes....)

A receiver will get all the channels it's supposed to as long as the dish it is connected to is within the spotbeams that broadcast the channels it thinks it should get. Be careful about "relocating" a receiver as it may go against the terms of service.

Thanks, that's something I was thinking would be the case. I'll have my friend contact DTV after she's settled in during the first week of April, and dtermine what service best suits her.
