I've been in contact with the Dish Network Quality Assurance Team since October regarding the poor quality of the Tulsa locals. My last piece of correspodence with them was on 1/13/2003. Listed below is what they said:
Bryan, here is the latest information on fiber delivery for Tulsa stations. This will hopefully improve the picture quality. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience.
KOKI-FOX: Fiber ETA is 1-2 weeks.
KTFO-UPN: Fiber ETA is 1-2 weeks.
KOTV-CBS: Fiber ETA is mid Feb.
KJRH-NBC: Fiber ETA is mid Feb.
KGEB-IND: Currently working with the station to possibly obtain a digital feed.
Thank you,

I hope the "digital" feed from KGEB is of the station's content and not Golden Eagle Broadcasting's content, so you maintain your Rangers tv coverage if they are still carrying them this year.

Allen,
Dish Network has never given me an indication that ABC (KTUL) is going to fiber. They didn't give me a reason why.
Does anyone know where Dish Network picks up the feeds for fiber transmission from the local networks? Is it at the station or the tower?
Regards,
- Bryan
rbdavis, the station has to foot the bill for the fiber feed if it is a must carry situation. They probably do for the "Network" stations as well. So they decide which path to use. It is probably the path which is the cheapest.
The improved PQ came too late for me...
I thought the picture was terrible and went with OTA for locals. Great PQ OTA. OTA integrates via 6000/8VSB perfectly. Have to switch inputs on the 301's but no big deal.
Love HD on 2-01 (NBC). Really dissappointed that 6 (CBS) will not relay national HD feed. Looking forward to 41 (UPN) HD feed for Enterprise.

OKCrew,
What type and brand of antenna did you buy? I'm considering going the OTA route for the Tulsa locals myself.
Thanks,
- Bryan
rbdavis,
I tried the RS double bow-tie indoor antenna and it did OK but I wanted VHF as well as UHF for HD. I bought the inexpensive (I think it was $20-$25) RS 75 mile UHF/VHF outdoor antenna and installed it in my attic. I'm in Broken Arrow and the reception is great. Although, I'm told and have experienced that you get good reception in BA with almost anything.
Anything is better than what I was getting with Cox. Of course I switched to DBS right before Cox moved some of the locals from the OTA channel which I understand has cleared up a lot of the "leakage multipath" PQ problems.

In BA you are about 5 miles from the transmitter.
