I am looking at buying a 510 DVR on ebay

in the information about the box it says "The bottom left of the card is 1020001P07 and the system info say Dish 500 Card Ready DNASP Rom 102 Rev 103. Hope that helps.

They're trying to sell it for hacking purposes. Assuming they even own it (i.e. if it's not a leased box).

I'd steer clear of this one.

You may want to consider a 508 - it's the same as a 510 without teh $5 per month DVR fee. The HD is a little smaller, but its not worth an extra $60 per year for the larger HD IMO. Be sure to ask for the smart card and receiver numbers before bidding on any used Dish receiers. Then call DISH and ask if the box can be transferred and if it has a balance before you bid. If it has a balance or can't be transferred, move on to the next receiver.

That info means nothing at all unless you have issues with missing channels on that receiver or other authorization issues. See if you can get the R00 / S00 #s from the receiver. If they refuse, move on.
