I would like to see a feature in which automatically goes to the first unread post when you go to read it, and another one that just shows the posts that you have read, posted in, or new posts, not showing the posts in which we are not interested in? The second one would be a bit harder to do.

Part of what you ask is already available. To go directly to the first unread posts, simply click on the the down arrow button " http://www.dbstalk.com/images/firstnew.gif" . If you would like to see only threads that have new posts AND be able to go directly to the first unread post, click on the "View New Posts" text link at the top of the main forum listing.

As far as your second request you are right, it's a little more difficult but by doing a search for your username, you can see threads that you have participated in. I will look further into your request and let you know.

What I meant was to automatically go to the first unread post without having to click on that link, because it takes a little longer while on a dial-up connection to get to that post on threads that have a lot of posts, but I suppose that would not help speed up the process, but it would also help someone to not have to click on so many things to get back to the list of new posts.

When I come into the forums and go to read posts I do it in this fashion:

- Click on "New Posts"
- Click the post I want to read
- Click "Go to first unread post" (sometimes not available)
- Click the down arrow beside the down arrow and select "search results" closest to the top of the list OR click the left arrow twice

and then I am back to the list of threads. by having the option to automatically go to the first unread post automatically all one would have to do is this:

- Click on "New Posts"
- Click the post I want to read
- Click the back arrow once to return to the list of threads

Also something I like is when you hover over a thread you see the first post of the thread. If one could somehow make it to where you could see additional posts in the thread with some type of action of hovering over it, it would be a lot quicker and easier and then one could just click on the thread to post.

Maybe to read an entire page of posts by hovering over the page number would be a good idea as well for threads with more than one page or a number for each post to hover over to see the text of that post to retrieve the information much quicker. Then to have a place to the right of it to enter text for the reply and to reply to a certain post just to click on that number.

I know what some of you are thinking, lazy lazy lazy, but I think they are neat ideas but do not know if it would take up more bandwidth or be too difficult to do.

Am I missing something? You can do this now. After clicking on "New Posts" you can click the down arrow button right next to the thread with new posts which will take you right to the first unread message. Then one click on the back arrow button will take you right back to the list.

I think he wants the feature like it does on the home.php page. When you click on one of the last 5 topics it takes you to that post, not the top of the thread. Either way it won't speed up the speed on a modem since you still have to download the whole thread anyway. You could shorten your posts per page and that might help. Look in the User CP
