Rangers Looking at Iginla

UNRISE, Fla., Feb. 12 — Glen Sather has stockpiled the Rangers' roster with marquee names like Mark Messier, Eric Lindros, Pavel Bure, Bobby Holik and Aleksei Kovalev in his three years as president and general manager, and he may not be finished dealing.

The Rangers are interested in trading for the Calgary Flames' young superstar, Jarome Iginla, whom the low-budget Flames cannot afford, a National Hockey League team official acknowledged tonight.

Calgary General Manager Craig Button has indicated he would have to receive established players with low salaries in return, something the Rangers do not have in abundance.

But forward Jamie Lundmark's name would be sure to come up in discussions for Iginla, a 25-year-old right wing who led the league in goals and points last season.

Another player the Rangers would probably offer is the the 25-year-old right wing Radek Dvorak, who has just 5 goals this season.

Sounds like a desperation attempt by Sather to gather as many guys as he can to get them back in the playoffs....or be canned......He had better watch out though that he doesnt load the Blue Shirts down with big contracts.

Gotta "love" teams like the Rangers who honestly believe that a player's salary or what will become a player's salary once they hit the Big Apple will somehow transform that player into someone who will lead the Rangers to the Stanley Cup.

I can recall reading that Sam Walton (the guy that started Wal-Mart) use to drive around Arkansas in a pick up truck. You know old Sam had enough money to buy any car in the world but he drove a pick up. Why? Because it served his needs.

Maybe the Rangers need to take a lesson in that, you need players fit your system not just players who make ridiculous salaries.

Add the Knicks into that mix too John......No wonder WHY MSG...Dolan...etc....seem to be hard up for cash......Im betting on Scott Layden following Sather out the door....The Knicks are HORRIBLE!

Did you hear, Sather announces.......
"I want to trade for the entire league! Then I can run it my way...I can buy all the players I want...whenever I want...and I don't have to answer to anyone. I won't have to make the playoffs...I'll just have my own league, with just one team...just for my precious Rangers."

When asked where the logic was for this announcement Sather had this to say, "Do you know what its like to be me? Do you know how frustrating it is to have an owner who's really conservative with the purse strings, you know how restraining that is? I am sick and tired of always having to justify myself to the fans...and the NHL in general this way I can avoid all that."

Then a cynical reporter then asked, "What next, world domination?"

Sather rather matter of factly responded, "well, I've been looking into it, and we've contacted the world...and they seem interested...and are considering allowing my domination for Sandy McCarthy and $3.9 million dollars." :rolleyes:GO WILD!!!
