I'm adding an HR20-700 on Monday. I will replace my HR 10-250 and will have it be moved to another room. D* will do the install. I have OTA on the 10-250 now and will keep it on the HR20-700. Both receivers will be activated. I will have D* move the 10-250 to a SD TV.

Since we have many hours of recordings on the 10-250 that we haven't watched, I want to move the HR10-250 back to my single HDTV and have it hooked up next to the HR 20. My question is this: Can I move the HR 10-250 back and have both receivers hooked up to my HD TV while we catch up on the recordings? I do not plan to have the HR10-250 connected to the dish or my multi-switch for this temporary configuration. My plan would be to hook the new HR20 to the HDMI input on my HDTV and connect the the HR 10-250 thru component inputs to the HDTV.

Will the HR10-250 play the recordings even if it is not being fed by the dish? Again, the card will still be activated.

Sure. I have an HR20-700 and HR10-250 both connected to my Sony HDTV. The HR20-700 is connected to my Sony's HDMI input while the HR10-250 is connected via component video cables. Works fine.

And you don't need the HR10-250 connected to your dish to watch its recordings.
