Ok, this has been bugging me... during the NCAA games I've seen a 3M commercial several times. Shows various people looking over people's shoulder looking at their laptop screens to see what they are doing. 3M has a "privacy filter" screen for sale that you can slide down in front of your screen to prevent eavesdropping.

OK... So why did companies spend all that money and resources for years developing multi-angle-view LCD screens for the laptops just so we can now put a filter on them that prevents multi-angle viewing?

Shouldn't some smart marketing person years ago have come up with advertising the lack of multi-angle viewing ability as a security feature?

Sometimes you want multi-angle viewing (giving a presentation in a room where there's no projector).

Sometimes you don't (when you're on a plane, reading the details of some highly confidential project your company is working on).

I'd tend to agree with you, HDMe. I don't ever look at my laptop from any angle but straight on.

Most people don't care if someone looks at what is on their laptop screen.

For the people that want privacy when using their laptop they can by a privacy filter.

What's the big deal ?
