I feel like this is a completely original question but of course realize it like is not. I am just unable to come up with a suitable search string to find the topic in these boards so please excuse me.

I have been a DTV subscriber for a couple years. During that time I moved away for 3 months with the intention of returning to the same house. Rather than suspend my service I continued it but did change my billing address on the DTV web site so that I would receive my bill at my temporary location. Well, I would return to my primary address on the weekends and find that my local channels had switched to the new address location which is fine by me and have lived for extended times in both locations and couldn't care less about the local news shows.

Now I find myself going down the upgrade path to HD and realize that my primary residence does not receive the local HD channels but the temporary location address would. What would be wrong with changing my address on the DTV website to receive the major networks in HD since I now get my bill by email.

Thanks

Federal law says that you can only receive the locals for where you live unless you get a waiver of course.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I figured as much. I must say that I am not overly concerned with federal guidelines as long as I am not breaking any laws. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Since I own both residence I am not sure why I would not be entitled to view the local channels from the market I most prefer.

Well, you ARE breaking laws and your TOS if you do this as the Feds and FCC says that you CANNOT receive out-of-market locals if you are not eligible to receive them.

That said, alot of people ARE receiving them just as you describe. Without going further, remember what the military of the US said... Don't ask, Don't tell!!!
