New to the board and needing help. Just got my 722 and can't get the tv/video function to toggle between my dish and direct TV. I had it setup with my old dish to where I would run the direct into the antenna in on my dish and then toggle with the TV/Video button to switch between the 2 networks without having to screw and unscrew cables everytime. Any help would be most welcome.

Did you set the remote up to work with your brand/model of TV?

Yes it controls all the other features the TV/Video just doesn't work like my old setup so i was just trying to see if I was missing something. Thanks
Are you saying you connected the D* receiver output to the E* receiver external antenna port? That will not work since the 722 only has a digital OTA tuner. It is an ATSC tuner not an NTSC tuner.

Any other suggestions short of just changing cables everytime?
Does your TV have another input connection? Most recent TVs have multiple inputs one or more of HDMI, Component, SVIDEO, Composit, Cable. I have two receivers connected to my TV with one using HDMI and the other using Component. With the Dish remote you can switch the TV input to change which receiver you watch. If your TV only has one input you can get a HDMI or Component switch that can switch between multiple inputs with a remote. Everything beats manually switching cables around.

I will try that thanks.

Oh, I thought that he had two inputs to his TV and had the D* receiver hooked to the other one. That is what the TV/Video button is for... changing inputs on the TV.

When pressing the TV/VIDEO button, it should illuminate the TV button, not the SAT button.

Not if the remote is in Sat mode. I don't have a 5.3/6.3 remote, just 6.0 and 6.2, but they all behave the same way DISH remotes usually have. If Sat is selected, Sat let blinks when you press TV/Video. If TV is selected, it blinks TV led as long as it knows something to send for that TV's code. Prior to the Home Dist output receivers, TV/Video in Sat mode would toggle the RF out to be the receiver's output or a passthrough of the RF in. Dunno what ViP receivers do for sure, but all my remotes blink the light of the selected device (generally speaking, exceptions exist) when I press TV/Video. Even the 5.3 TV1 remote doesn't know that it isn't controlling a receiver that still toggles its RF output with TV/Video.
But with the ViP receivers there is really no RF in since the OTA tuner is ATSC you can't connect an RF input to the antenna port.

If the TV/VIDEO button is to control the TV and not the receiver, it should flash the TV led and not the SAT. When pressing the Volume control, it flashes the TV led while the remote is in SAT mode. Or, is there a TV/VIDEO mode on the receiver?
I used the TV/Video mode of my DISH receivers prior to my 942. Its Ant In (both NTSC and ATSC) could be (isn't) passed through to Home Dist out w/o regard to internal tuner(s). All it would take is a relay to pass Ant In through to RF out on a dual output receiver, but it would screw over the TV2 Home Dist users more often than it would aid them with unintended (and non-visible to TV1) pushes of TV/Video.
If they make a 5.4/6.4 remote, they should make the TV/Video button still default to the current behavior so that it worked with prior receivers, but support punch through on the TV/Video button the same way they do on Volume. You can program the ViP remote to generate TV or Aux led/code on Volume (in Sat). Something similar could make the remote generate Sat/TV/Aux for TV/Video when in Sat mode.
DISH uses the 6.3 as a universal replacement remote for all prior (except 7x00 Dishplayers) receivers so I guess they want TV/Video to behave the way it always has on those remotes. Having it send Sat TV/Video when the receiver it comes with doesn't do anything with the code, only makes sense "if you might use the remote for all the receivers that supported TV/Video".
